MTRA Roundup Rides
All MTRA members, their guests and potential members are encouraged
to attend our annual Spring, Summer, and Fall Trail Rides. These
usually start with a short ride Friday evening for those who
can make it. Saturday's ride generally starts around
9:30 a.m. and returns by 4 p.m. with a mid-day break for
lunch and several
shorter breaks as needed. That evening all are invited
to participate in a potluck supper, followed by a full membership
meeting, raffle, and a bon fire. The Sunday morning ride
leaves around 9 or 9:30 a.m. and usually returns by noon or 1:00
p.m. These rides are a wonderful way to start camping with
your horse, get acquainted with other trail riders and learn
about new places to ride. The general meetings keep members
informed about their organization and provide an avenue for input
from all members.
Additional MTRA Trail Rides
In addition to our seasonal rides, MTRA also helps organize several
local rides each year. Members who have volunteered to
lead a trail ride at a park or other location in our area schedule
these rides. They may be a one-day event or an entire weekend,
may include a potluck and/or bon fire, but will not have a membership
meeting. If you would like to lead a ride in your area,
please contact our Trail Rides Chairperson.
Policy
MTRA
Board of Directors have a adopted a policy that they RECOMMEND
that all members and guests attending Membership/Roundup
rides have proof of a negative Coggins Test in the last 12
months and a copy of the negative test available for MTRA to retain
in their records. The MTRA Board also recommends that all
horses attending these rides be current in their other vaccinations.
Campground Policy
You are expected to maintain
a safe and orderly campsite and to clean up your site before
you leave. Dogs must be kept under control or on a leash
at all times.
Stallions must be trailer-ed overnight. Please refer to the
etiquette and safety rules which MTRA has published in numerous
issues of the newsletter or review them online in the "General
Rider Info" section of this site.
